International Expressive Arts Therapy Association

The International Expressive Arts Therapy Association is a non-profit, international, professional organization whose purpose is to encourage the growth and evolution of an integrated multi-arts approach to psychotherapy, education, and related fields.

Founded in 1994 by expressive arts therapists and educators, IEATA is a democratic association which, while acknowledging the uniqueness inherent in each artistic modality, seeks to maximize the synergy of the relationship of the arts to one another. The association recognizes the contribution of the arts to individual, community, and global health and healing.

IEATA invites any and all interested parties to participate. You are welcome to join what is indeed an historic confluence – arts, psychotherapy and education.

IEATA's recent conference of March 2005 in San Francisco had an attendance close to 300, representing many countries, including Canada, Argentina, Mexico, Germany, Australia and more. The theme was EXPRESSIVE ARTS, VOICES FOR PEACE AND TRANSFORMATION. Workshops were diverse, ranging from lecture and presentation, to experiential work with various focuses. IEATA is currently developing ideas for the next conference.
